Congratulations to costume designer Catherine Martin for her Oscar wins during last night's 2014 Academy Awards! Martin's first golden statuette was awarded for Best Costume Design for The Great Gatsby, the 2013 film directed by Martin's husband Baz Luhrmann. Later in the evening, Martin and set director Beverley Dunn won an Oscar for Best Production Design for The Great Gatsby. In 2002, Martin won two Oscar awards for her work on Moulin Rouge, also directed by Luhrmann. With four Academy Awards, Catherine Martin is the most-decorated Australian in Oscar history. We may have to wait a few years to see more Martin costume designs. Her next project, in collaboration with Luhrmann, is for the Saxony Hotel in Miami, FL. Martin and Luhrmann will design "interiors, uniforms, and cultural programming" for this historic Miami Beach hotel.

We're honored to have selected The Great Gatsby costumes on display in The 22nd Annual Art of Motion Picture Costume Design exhibition through April 26, 2014. See Catherine Martin's award-winning costumes in person, Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-5pm. Exhibition tours are available; see our website for more information. For Martin's perspective on The Great Gatsby, watch this brief New York Times interview with the costume designer.
