Creating The Costumes of Hamilton, With Costume Designer Paul Tazewell

Emmy- and Tony-award winning costume designer Paul Tazewell joins FIDM Museum Curator Kevin Jones for a Q&A about his work on the Original Broadway production of Hamilton, the acclaimed musical by Lin-Manuel Miranda. In this live event, you’ll learn how Paul developed and designed the iconic costumes for the cast portraying the Founding Fathers and other revolutionary historical figures in the beloved musical. You’ll also hear about Paul’s work on the upcoming romantic musical drama, West Side Story, directed by Steven Speilberg.

Paul’s illustrious career began with the groundbreaking musical Bring in Da Noise, Bring in ‘Da Funk, and he went on to design costumes for The Color Purple, Ain’t Too Proud, and Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert! He’ll share advice and key lessons from a career that spans nearly 30 years. Paul will answer audience questions during the last 15 minutes of the event.
