Introducing the Santamaura Study Grant

The FIDM Museum is excited to announce the Lori and Sal Santamaura Summer Study Grant. Open to U.S. citizens, applicants should be enrolled in a graduate program in fashion history or museum studies; consideration will also be given to students beginning their graduate program in Fall 2017.

The eight-week (35 hours per week) Study Program will introduce a student to the fashion-focused Museum field. This may include working on a collections-based project, cataloging, curatorial research, and installation experience. Additionally, the student will have the opportunity to shadow each FIDM Museum staff member and participate in educational field trips to other local collections. They will also work on a FIDM Museum collections-based research project of their choice; findings will be presented on the FIDM Museum Blog.

This Summer Study Grant consists of a $1,000 stipend; $500 will be paid to the student on their first day at the FIDM Museum, and the remaining $500 will be given their last day. One Study Grant is offered per calendar year.

Applications (cover letter and resumé) will be reviewed upon receipt, and qualifying applicants will be interviewed prior to beginning the program.

Applications for the Lori and Sal Santamaura Summer Study Grant are due Saturday, April 1. To submit your application or for additional information, contact us via email: Kevin.Leslie.Jones@asu.edu.

Intern with the FIDM Museum! We are currently seeking talented and motivated graduate students to assist with a variety of projects. Assignments may include exhibition installation, curatorial research, object cataloging, or digital asset management. Previous interns have assisted with curatorial projects, organized our Special Collections, and helped with our television costume design exhibition.

Interns work closely with FIDM Museum staff and receive valuable hands-on training in museum practices. We are looking for students enrolled in a graduate program, or with plans to enroll immediately following the internship, in a field related to fashion history and/or museum studies. We accept students seeking academic credit; interns must make appropriate arrangements with their academic institution.  Summer interns must commit to working 35 hours per week, during business hours (9:00 am – 6:00 pm Monday-Friday). Internships are unpaid.

Applications (cover letter and resumé) will be reviewed upon receipt, and qualifying applicants will be interviewed prior to beginning internship.
